As we enter a new year I think many of us will find ourselves battling the same challenges as last year. Our government continues to make life difficult for many families; removing public services and threatening peoples jobs. As young people resolve to go out and shout about the kind of society they want to live in Woodcraft Folk needs to be the support for a generation taking action. That is why Woodcraft Folk is supporting two national events this term, one is the rally for Youth Services on the 12th February in the Midlands. The second is a demonstration, for which we are hoping you will respond with us and the Trade Union Congress, on the 26th Mach against cuts and for our public services.

Woodcraft Folk is about learning to be part of a group. Our methods teach young people about solidarity, cooperation and what it means to be part of something bigger than just one person. This new year General Council has made its resolution – that more young people need to have the opportunity to be part of a Woodcraft Folk group at the end of this year than at the start of it.

Make growing Woodcraft Folk your new years resolution too. We need you to help us grow the organisation by donating to our action fund for setting up new groups. And if you have ever thought about introducing someone to your local group or helping a new group to get established, now is the time to do so.That is why in the next few weeks you will start to see our appeal for a fund to support growth. Now more than ever we can make a difference for thousands of children’s lives but only if you support us today – start by donating a few pounds a month and we could make a real difference.

I hope you enjoy this months newsletter – the General Council and I are committed to growth and the big plan and I believe that many of the articles reflect that, but for your plan, that you voted for at the annual gathering, of growth and political action to succeed we need your support. We have 11 working groups that we need members to get on board with. I ask every group to think how they can contribute to these working groups, building our movement for a stronger tomorrow. You can find the information about the working groups here: http://www.woodcraft.org.uk/working-groups

Finally, I know that many people are getting exciting about Co camp – bookings have been fantastic, make sure that you are not missing out and book before the booking deadline. Co-Camp will be a celebration of our cooperation, our common endeavourer and you can be part of it at www.bookings.cocamp.coop
