Labour and Co-operative Member of
Parliament for Kemptown and Peacehaven
Parliamentary question: Yemen
Lloyd Russell-Moyle MP
"I want to add my warm words about this agreement, which is a positive step forward. I am pleased that the Foreign Secretary mentioned not only Hodeidah but Ras Isa, because without opening up that fuel terminal, we will be unable to get food to the rest of the country. However, at Foreign Office questions, Ministers told us that they could not tell the House whether UK-manufactured weapons or planes were involved in the deaths of civilians and possible war crimes. The head of the independent office that he mentioned recommended, in his professional judgement, that arms sales should be suspended, but Ministers overturned that judgement. Will the Foreign Secretary now look again at suspending arms sales?"
Mr Jeremy Hunt MP, The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs
"I do not know where the hon. Gentleman gets that information from, but it is not correct."
